There's a brand new playing field for mixed-breed dogs, and its offering their owners a long-awaited shot of pride. The American Muttigrees™ Club (AMC) is giving 50 million mixed-breed dogs the voice and the status they deserve. With its own Web site (www.muttigrees.org) AMC is committed to changing the perception of mixed breeds and promotes adoption as the responsible way to obtain a pet.

August 27, 2008, Port Washington, NY – Focusing on changing the way dog-loving Americans perceive mixed breed canines, The Pet Savers Foundation today unveiled the American Mutt-i-grees Club. The web-based initiative www.muttigrees.orgtargeting owners of America’s 50+ million mixed breed dogs, offers membership that includes a registry for mixed breeds and looks to educate the public on the benefits of adopting a Mutt-i-gree from a shelter.

Already riding a surge of unprecedented popularity, dogs of mixed or unknown heritage are getting another boost. Whether short-legged, spotted, curly-haired, barrel-chested, pointy-eared or snub-nosed — or a combination of all of them — multi-breed mongrels will be welcomed and extolled at a new registry and Web community launching this week at muttigrees.org.
